Harvest Shaker Trials - Recapturing Lost Revenue

Research by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and the Australian Macadamia Society suggests that the Australian macadamia industry is missing out on more than 15% of production due to harvesting losses and quality downgrades.

Opportunities for the industry to re-capture lost revenue due to harvesting losses and quality downgrades is being investigated in Macadamia Harvest Improvement Review (Project MC16001), a research project to increase harvest performance across the industry. The 2-year project began in March 2017 and is being delivered by Horticulture Innovation Australia using macadamia industry levies and funds from the Australian Government.

One of the first activities for the project was a trial of new harvesting technology (tree shaker) on a NSW mid north coast orchard.
