2019 June MacGroup - Bundaberg, QLD

June/July MacGroups – Root system health, IPDM, tree shakers and much more

How healthy is your root system? And what can you do to improve it? Come along to the Australian macadamia industry June/July MacGroups where we’ll be taking an in-depth look ‘below the ground’, washing out and mapping the root system of orchard trees.

We’ll also be showcasing the Monchiero tractor-mounted tree shaker. Find out why some of Australia’s most innovative macadamia growers are now trialling tree shakers as a new way to improve pest control and reduce the harvesting period.

As well, our industry experts will provide the latest updates on pest and disease management, regional trends and innovative grower practices. This is always the most popular MacGroup of the year, so RSVP NOW to avoid disappointment! MacGroups are open to AMS members and levy payers only.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • Tree physiology focus on root system health and development, nutrient uptake, water availability and flush management
  • Integrated pest & disease management, including effective monitoring tools, disease diagnosis and mitigation
  • Crop protection changes and efficacy trial data
  • Innovative grower orchard practices
  • Pollination research findings
  • Latest government grants available to growers
  • Partner presentation – Hayden Higgins, Senior Analyst, RaboResearch Food & Agribusiness Research. See Hayden's preview video here.

Come and see the Monchiero tree shaker

Tree shakers have typically been used for almond, walnut and pecan orchards, but now some of our most innovative macadamia growers are trialling tree shaking as a new way to improve pest control and decrease the harvesting period. Come to this MacGroup to see the tractor-mounted shaker from Monchiero’s orchard range. With a high frequency vibrating head, telescopic arm, easy-to-use joystick and own hydraulic oil tank and 2 pumps, the VL08 may be right for your next equipment purchase. Watch the video of the Monchiero tree shaker here.
